AuctionBlox Shipping Module

For configuration of our older shipping module, see Fixed Shipping

The AuctionBlox Shipping Module is designed to allow you to collect shipping for your eBay items. You may configure it to incorporate combined shipping discounts for eBay and shop items, or to simply add eBay shipping charges to other shop items.

The configuration menu for the AuctionBlox Shipping module may be found in your shopping cart administration panel under "Modules/Shipping".

The following two options control how shipping charges are calculated

eBay Items - Shipping on eBay

  1. Shipping specified in listing
  2. Fixed shipping table
  3. Other enabled shipping modules

Shop Items

  1. Fixed shipping table
  2. Other enabled shipping modules

Shipping for items purchased on eBay are calculated solely on the selection in eBay Items, and shipping for shop items are calculated solely on the selection in Shop Items.

If the selections are different then the two shipping amounts will be added together to give the shipping total. If the selections are the same (ie 'Fixed Shipping Table' or 'Other Enabled Shipping Modules'), then the shipping cost will be calculated on all of the items as a whole.

Shipping Options

  • Shipping specified in listing

The buyer will be charged the amount quoted in the eBay listing. This applies to both eBay flat shipping and eBay calculated shipping. If the buyer adds other non-eBay items to their shopping cart, then the shipping charges for shop items will be calculated separately and added to the eBay shipping amount. This is generally the most expensive shipping method for the buyer.

  • Fixed shipping table

By selecting this option, the customer will be charged the amount specified in the Fixed Shipping Table section of AuctionBlox. If Fixed Shipping Table is selected for both eBay items and shop items, then shipping discounts are applied to the whole shopping cart. The most expensive item in the cart is used for calculation of the "first shipping amount", and all other items will use the "additional shipping amount". Please note that if shipping charges have not been configured in the Fixed Shipping table for any one of the cart items, an error will be reported to the buyer and an email will be send to the shop admin indicating the problem.

(See below for a more in-depth description of how to setup Fixed Shipping Table.)

  • Other enabled shipping modules

If you select this option, then the AuctionBlox shipping module will not be used, and all other enabled shipping modules will be presented to the buyer.

Set this option to True if you wish to have Fixed Shipping be the ONLY shipping option available to your customers during checkout.

Use this option to discount TOTAL shipping by a set percentage.

Use this option to charge insurance for items over a certain price. (Default = 0; Insurance is offered on all items)

Enter a Cost Multiple to charge additional insurance past the base amount. Ie: With a cost multiple of 50, a $200 item is charge the base amount plus the additional amount 3 times.

The Base Insurance is the amount to charge for the first multiple, the Addl Insurance is charged for each additional multiple. Ie: A $200 item with a Cost Multiple of 50 would charge 2.20 + 1.30 + 1.30 + 1.30 = 6.10

Shipping Upgrade #1 – ADDITIONAL cost of shipping to the Fixed Shipping amount to upgrade to Priority Shipping.

Shipping Upgrade #2 – ADDITIONAL cost of shipping to the Fixed Shipping amount to upgrade to Express Shipping.

Shipping Upgrade #3 – ADDITIONAL cost of shipping to the Fixed Shipping amount to upgrade to Overnight Shipping.

  • If an amount is entered, the upgrade will be active for Domestic AND Global shipments

How does Fixed Shipping calculate shipping costs?

The module takes the (Domestic or Global) “Shipping Cost” of the most expensive item in the cart. Every other item’s shipping cost is taken from the “Additional Shipping Cost” of the items.

For instance, I have two items in my cart with the following shipping costs:

Item 1 – Shipping Cost: 4.95, Additional Shipping Cost: 2.50 Item 2 – Shipping Cost: 9.95, Additional Shipping Cost: 5.00

The module takes the 9.95 Shipping Cost from the most expensive item, and the 2.50 Additional Shipping Cost from less expensive item for a total shipping of 12.45

  • If you offer a shipping discount, it is discounted from this (12.45) amount
  • Any insurance is added AFTER the discount is applied so you are not discounting insurance costs
